UEFA CL First Leg Round Up Feb 23rd

Marseille 0-0 Manchester United

Manchester United visited Marseille for their first Leg UEFA CL knockout match. Manchester United did not play to its potential and definitely disappointed its fans. But a fair result at the end. It was a scoreless draw and Manchester United would be looking to take care of business at home when Marseille visit Old Trafford to play the second leg of the knock out game. It was pretty boring game with hardly any chances for a goal. Hopefully the second leg brings in some pulsating moments.

Inter Milan 0-1 Bayern Munich

This was one of the highly reputed matches of this season. A replay of last season UEFA finalists and its sad that one of them have to bow out in the early stages this season. It looks like the wrath could be on last year's UEFA champions Inter Milan. They have conceded an all important away goal to Bayern Munich. Thanks to the last minute goal from Mario Gomez. Both teams showed attacking intent from the start and it was a fairly open affair. But Bayern walked out with one one leg towards the quarterfinals. But nothing is a done deal till the last minute and that is the beauty of this competition. Inter would be looking to cancel out the away goal when it visit Bayern to play the second leg.

Real Madrid Held on by Lyon and Chelsea make a big leap forward

Real Madrid Held to a draw by Lyon

I don't know what is it that Lyon has got with Real Madrid in UEFA champions league. Looks like they have made it a mission to foil the party for Real Madrid. It happened last UEFA knock stages and now stands very balanced to happen again. Hopefully Jose does something this time and get Madrid out of Lyon curse.

Madrid was held for a 1-1 draw by Lyon at home. Positives for Real Madrid would be an all important away goal. Ronaldo and Ramos came close to scoring for Madrid right after the half time but were denied by the woodwork. Benzama came as an impact substitute and scored a goal in his first touch of the game. Madrid looked cruising along but a late equalized foiled the party. Lyon visit Madrid in the second leg.

I really hope Madrid make it through the knockout curse and hope fully we get to see "El Classico" all along in April. Enjoy the highlights.

Chelsea make a big leap forward

Chelsea kept alive its last hope for silverware with a big leap forward. Anelka brace helped them overcome the Danish side Copenhagen with 2 important away goals. Enjoy the highlights.
