The first leg of UEFA champions league knockout between Arsenal and Barcelona took place at Emirates, the home ground of Arsenal. Barcelona dominated the proceeding with superb passing and through balls. Messi almost scored the first goal for barcelona in first few minutes of the game. But Messi didn't realize that it wasn't his day. Villa scored the first goal for Barcelona with a superb assist from Messi. Barcelona were 1-0 at the half time and looked pretty much poised to seal the game.

Arsenal started off the second half with great determination and played some really attacking football. Van Persie looked dangerous and troubled Barcelona No 1, Victor Valdes a couple of times. Arsenal kept on pressing and finally got the much needed break through with 15 minutes left on the board. Van Persie scored the first goal from a very difficult angle and made it 1-1. With in few minutes, Febregas provided a great pass to Nasri who made a great run into the danger area and provided a wonderful assist  to Arshravin, who scored a beautiful goal for Gunners. Arsenal made it 2-1.

This makes the Second Leg very interesting and Barcelona would have to come very strong to turn this around. Lets hope for another terrific champions league game when Arsenal visit Barcelona.
